Granite & Marbles
In most cases natural Granites & Marbles are over 300 million years old & the veining and colouration of each extracted slab is unique.
We recommend a visit to the slab yard as the examples shown can only give an indication of colour and grain. You should always insist on seeing the granite slabs at the workshop after selecting a sample 'swatch'. All finished products are waxed and sealed to give you the longest lasting, most attractive finish we can.
Granites can be over 300 million years old and have been subject to the constant movements within the earth's mantle. Granite is an igneous rock formed from magma being slowly cooled within the Earth's crust thereby creating large crystals (grains). As such granite forms the greatest part of the Earth's mantle.
Marble is a metamorphic rock created from calcium based sedimentary rocks such as limestone or chalk that has undergone extreme change, usually the result of convulsions in the earth's crust, thereby causing the calcites to crystallise and harden.
As stock holders we import material from quarries all over the globe.
Considerable variation can occur in the colouration and veining of granite, which results in spectacular and unique characteristics.
Make sure you are comfortable with any differences.
